I am using my residency at Quiet Down There’s studio 7 to create a new work called ‘Femicides’.  Come join me, artist Arabel Lebrusan, in creating 81 tiles from broken crockery and plaster for the new artwork.
‘Femicides’ addresses the gender-based murder of women or girls by men. This wall piece comprises 81 tiles made from broken crockery embedded in plaster. It symbolises female deaths in England and Wales resulting from domestic crimes between April 2019 and April 2020. Each tile features different broken china with unique designs, personifying the individuality of the victims.

I would like to invite women and girls to create these 81 tiles with me. I will provide all the materials and invite you to join me on Fridays throughout November and December 2023 at my new studio, Quiet Down There, Studio 7, on the balcony at Brighton Open Market, BN1 4JU.
